Development of Websites as an Academic Integrative Project to Strengthen Businesses in the Popular and Solidarity Economy
This article explores the development of websites as an academic integrative project aimed at strengthening businesses within the popular and solidarity economy (EPS) in the province of Pichincha, Ecuador. Fifth-semester students from the Digital Marketing program at Universidad Indoamérica, as part of their integrative project, worked on creating customized websites for 12 local businesses that already had marketable products, including labels, packaging, and other presentation tools. Using the WordPress platform, the students developed websites tailored to the specific needs of each business, with the goal of improving their digital presence, facilitating access to broader markets, and increasing the competitiveness of their products and services. In addition to the technical development, graphic design elements such as professional product photography and promotional videos were integrated, along with digital marketing strategies that included search engine optimization and social media integration. The results indicate that the creation of these customized websites significantly increased the online visibility of the businesses and enhanced consumer perception of professionalism and trust. This study highlights the importance of applied academic projects as tools for community engagement and local economic development in vulnerable sectors. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2026.

In this research, the objective was to determine the optimal financial sustainability model for manufacturing SMEs in zone 3 for the years 2017 - 2020. For the development of the study, 107 medium and small companies that met the requirements of complete information obtained from the Superintendence of Companies, Securities, and Insurance were taken into account. Observation sheets were used to classify the information in the financial statements and allow understanding of their financial situation by applying the solvency prediction models, Z-Altman, Springate, Fulmer, and CA-Score. In the analysis of the financial indicators of manufacturing, SMEs evidenced a strong correlation with their financial sustainability, especially in the year 2019. A comparative analysis of the effectiveness of the four models of financial sustainability is made, for the selection of the most optimal model. In addition, a SWOT analysis was performed in order to identify the strengths and weaknesses of each of them, so, it is revealed that the most optimal and reliable model is Springate, due to its multidimensional approach, adaptability for manufacturing SMEs, simplicity and ability to provide a clear and truthful score. However, it is always advisable to consider the specific context of other models to each company.

The purpose of this text is to analyze the importance of rights of aliens, taking as a guiding thread a historical journey. From an etymological starting point, necessary to know the nexus and origin of the present risks, we analyze the current interconnections and their relations, namely the globalization of migratory processes. The origins, causes and effects of a global citizenship, which is articulated based on a normative asymmetry, are analyzed in a substantive way. Inevitably, this reality leads towards the construction of a new social architecture, remotely controlled by supranational organisms at the service of particular interests. © 2019 Revista Espacios.

The effect of real wages on the basic family basket in Ecuador is a crucial issue in understanding households’ economic well-being. The real wage, which considers inflation and purchasing power, directly affects the ability of families to purchase essential goods and services. Analysis of this relationship provides insight into families’ challenges in meeting their basic needs and the potential implications for poverty and inequality in Ecuador. The study's objective is to analyze the purchasing power of the Ecuadorian population through data on real wages and basket costs from 2000 to 2021. The data analyzed comes from the Central Bank and INEC databases. The results indicate a sustained increase in the basic basket throughout the 2000–2021 period, which shows an increase in the prices of goods and services throughout the country. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.
