2024 , Núñez-Naranjo, Aracelly Fernanda , Ximena Morales-Urrutia , Rodrigo Villegas

This study explores the impact of corruption on subjective well-being in Latin American countries, focusing on Chile, Ecuador, Argentina, Uruguay, Venezuela, Bolivia, Colombia, and Peru during the period 2017-2021. The research examines how perceptions of corruption affect key indicators such as education, health, income, and life satisfaction. Utilizing secondary data from the World Values Survey, a descriptive and explanatory methodology was employed, incorporating statistical analysis and ordinal logistic regression models. Findings reveal a complex relationship between corruption and subjective well-being, indicating that higher levels of education are associated with increased awareness of corruption, while economic stability, political trust, and life satisfaction show varied associations with perceived corruption. The study highlights regional differences and contextual factors influencing these dynamics, providing insights into the multifaceted effects of corruption on human development and overall well-being in Latin American populations.

2025 , Miguel Orden-Mejía , Mauricio Carvache-Franco , Olenka Palomino , Orly Carvache-Franco , Lidia Minchenkova , Núñez-Naranjo, Aracelly Fernanda , Aleksandra Minchenkova , Wilmer Carvache-Franco

This study examines the key factors that influence tourists’ perceptions of destination quality and loyalty in the context of adventure tourism in Santa Elena, Ecuador, an emerging destination in Latin America. A quantitative approach was used, with data collected through an online questionnaire completed by 318 participants. Structural equation modeling was conducted using SmartPLS 4 to examine the relationships between motivational constructs (intellectual curiosity, health assurance, stress relief, physical condition, and social connection), perceived destination quality, and loyalty. The findings reveal that health assurance (β = 0.395, p < 0.001), stress relief (β = 0.417, p < 0.001), and intellectual curiosity (β = 0.143, p = 0.010) significantly influence perceived destination quality, while social connection and physical condition did not show significant effects. Moreover, perceived destination quality strongly predicts tourist loyalty (β = 0.634, p < 0.001). The model explains 63.5% of the variance in destination quality and 48.1% of that in loyalty. These results highlight the importance of post-pandemic health concerns, emotional well-being, and intellectual engagement as drivers of satisfaction and loyalty in adventure tourism. While existing research has largely focused on motivations and quality perceptions in adventure tourism within developed regions, studies in post-pandemic settings across Latin America—especially using validated structural models—remain scarce. This study also contributes to filling a gap in the literature by analyzing post-pandemic tourist behavior in Latin America, an underexplored context in existing research on sustainable and adventure tourism. The findings offer theoretical contributions to the field of adventure tourism and practical recommendations for destination managers seeking to enhance their competitiveness and visitor retention in the post-pandemic context.

Digital tools in the development of social skills: The role of the teacher as facilitator

2025 , Núñez-Naranjo, Aracelly Fernanda , Sánchez Torres, Adriana

The paper analyzes the role of the teacher in the development of social skills of seventh and eighth grade students through the integration of digital tools. The aim was to evaluate the impact of technology-mediated pedagogical strategies on the social and academic development of students. A quasi-experimental design with a mixed approach was used; a pretest-posttest was applied to a control group (traditional teaching) and an experimental group (digital tools: Educaplay, Kahoot, Genially, Google Meet). A validated CHASO questionnaire and classroom observation sheets were applied, assessing social skills and teaching practices. SPSS was used (t-tests, Kolmogorov-Smirnov), and qualitative data were analyzed thematically. The experimental group showed a significant improvement in social skills and academic performance compared to the control group. Technological tools enhanced motivation, although individual challenges persisted. The teaching guide mediated the use of technology and fostered empathetic and collaborative environments. The integration of digital tools in the classroom effectively promotes the development of social skills and digital competencies. However, it may vary due to individual and contextual factors, and teacher intervention is necessary. Curricular designs that promote the integration of digital tools in the classroom are recommended.

Constructivist Didactics in the Teaching-Learning Process

2022 , Núñez-Naranjo, Aracelly Fernanda

This paper reflects on the applicability of didactics in the constructivist approach, derived from different ideologies and worldviews associated with the teaching-learning process, based on the analysis of the tradition of educational practices in the classroom, as well as the characteristics adopted by teachers in the applicability of the curriculum, within the comprehensive training. The methodology was based on the systemic bibliographic review and in which the performance responds to the questions what, how and when to teach. The results show that there are different didactic strategies aimed at constructivism. Reference is also made to constructivist didactics as an organized and complex activity, in which the learner constructs their own learning, through interest, previous learning and transformations. It is concluded that the evolution of education has undergone significant transformations, where the passivity of the learner assumes a role in innovation and creativity. © 2022 IEEE.

The role of intangible metrics in achieving sustainable development goals

2025 , Núñez-Naranjo, Aracelly Fernanda , Ana Córdova-Pacheco , Santiago Chicaiza-Moreta

The fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals at a global level must be approached from the perspective of human, structural and employee capital, because their fulfillment stems from the productivity that stands out in the observation of intangible metrics. The research focuses on investigating how intangible metrics contribute to the financial performance of companies listed on the Quito Stock Exchange (BVQ), as well as determining how SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) are affected by the results of the measurement of intangible metrics. Sixty-seven companies are considered which have been studied in the calculation of the Value-Added Intellectual Value (VAIC), to evaluate the intangible metrics on the other hand the calculation of return on assets (ROA) and return on equity (ROE). Results show that capital employed, and structural capital have an impact on profitability (ROA) and (ROE), however, human capital did not have an effect on the variable. It can be concluded that the importance of inquiring about structural capital and capital employed in the performance of companies is emphasized, since this contributes to the fulfillment of sustainability, which are contributing to the fulfillment of the (SDGs).

Firm Size and Growth in Ecuador's Trade Sector: An Analysis from an Industrial Economics Perspective

2024 , Núñez-Naranjo, Aracelly Fernanda , Diego Marcelo Lara Haro , Juan Pablo Martínez Mesías , María José Sanchez Sarzosa

This study examines the dynamics of firm growth in the trade sector from 2016 to 2021, utilizing Gibrat's Proportional Effect Law. Panel data and Arellano and Bond's dynamic GMM estimator were employed to analyze variables such as sales revenue, growth, age, innovation, and indebtedness. The results suggest that small firms grow more rapidly than large ones, contradicting the assumption of growth independence from initial size. Additionally, it was observed that the growth of commercial companies is not continuous and is negatively influenced by the previous period, challenging the assumption of independence between periods. Furthermore, evidence of diversity in corporate growth was found, which refutes the idea of a trend towards concentration and monopoly. Finally, age, innovation, and indebtedness were determined to exert a significant influence on firm growth.

2024 , Núñez Naranjo, Aracelly , Chimarro Reinoso S.E. , Morales-Urrutia E.

Worldwide, the teaching of the English language has gained strength and attitude as it is the most studied and spoken language in the world, whether as a first language or a second language. However, it has been seen that the process of teaching the English language presents certain shortcomings in promoting the development of the four skills (listening, reading, writing and speaking) in students by identifying the lack of digital platforms in the extension of skills. The objective of the research is to validate the use of a digital platform through activities that promote the development of the four skills of learning the English language in students. The use of the platform is promoted through activities aimed at teaching the language, develop each of the skills in Basic Education students. For this research, the mixed methodology was used that combined the qualitative and quantitative approach with a population of 59 students, which allowed an evaluation of the pre-test and post-test to evaluate the development of skills, obtaining a value of 6.82. In the pre-test and a value of 8.77 in the post-test. When measuring the effect of this statistical improvement, it is calculated using Cohen’s d, which determines a very large effect of this improvement. With this result, it is identified that the development English language skills improved significantly after using the platform, both in listening, reading, writing and speaking skills. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.
