Redesign of the electrical power and lighting network at ice cream parlor located in the city of Quito

This article proposes the redesign of the electrical power and lighting network in an Ice Cream Parlor located in the city of Quito to ensure continuity in the electrical service and a luminous level according to the UNE 12464.1 Standard, established in the country. For this purpose, a survey of all the electrical load installed in the organization was carried out, where the nominal parameters of each equipment were identified with the help of the nameplate of each one of them. Using the specifications of the Ecuadorian Construction Standard (NEC) and the data obtained from the electrical load survey, five (5) circuits for outlets were proposed, considering a possible expansion of small equipment and the ten (10) maximum outlets established by the aforementioned standard. Additionally, four (4) circuits were proposed to feed the power load. With respect to the lighting network, the DIAlux software is used to determine the number of lamps, luminaires and their location to comply with the luminous level indicated. Therefore, it was necessary to propose six (6) circuits in order not to exceed the fifteen (15) lighting points established by the NEC. For each circuit, the following was calculated: conductor cross section, overcurrent protection, type of insulation and the diameter of the corresponding conduit to protect the conductors. Finally, quotations were made for the materials required for the implementation of the project. From these, an organization is selected, based on the availability of the necessary materials, their cost and accessibility, compared to other suppliers. The total amount of the proposal is US$2,518.24.

Standardization of the Cleaning Process of Electric Motor Cores-Case Study

The present research work focuses on analyzing the cleaning process of the cores corresponding to the three-phase asynchronous alternating current electric motors, since the quality of the same in the company RC INGELEC, has been deteriorating, as there is an increase in the number of returns of the same by 2.37% compared to the same period of the previous year 2021. Therefore, it is necessary to standardize the core cleaning process in three-phase AC electric motors, through a revision of standards for their rewinding, to reduce the rate of returns in the organization. To this end, interviews are carried out with the general manager, the head of the maintenance area, a survey of information from the technical sheets of the electric motors repaired in the years 2021 and 2022, to build a database, which allows identifying the problems of the process. NTE 2498 2009 focuses on the energy efficiency of stationary electric motors, which is based on the Mexican standard. Based on this reference, six procedures have been developed for each stage of the repair process, prioritizing the cleaning and proper handling of the magnetic core. An investment of $23,800.00 is required for the acquisition of new tools and equipment to completely reduce all returned motors; the vision is to have this reduction by 2028

Elaboration of the Laboratory Test Protocol for Asynchronous Alternating Current Electric Motors at Company, Located in the City of Quito

This article analyzes a company dedicated to providing integral and engineering solutions to industries. The company does not have the necessary protocols to perform satisfactorily the operation tests to three-phase asynchronous alternating current motors. Due to the above mentioned, it is necessary for the organization to have the mentioned protocols for a good development of its activities, customer satisfaction, reduction of reprocesses and a possible certification. To solve the problem, we proceed to adapt the process and the respective sub-processes concerning the AC motor operation tests, with respect to the NTE INEN 2 498:2009 standard in force in Ecuador. The same is adapted to the requirements of the organization to develop the protocols for each of the tests indicated in the standard. In addition, flow diagrams based on the Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) standard are prepared for each of the subprocesses that make up the test protocol in the engines under study. The protocols are made up of four ranges for the execution of the tests to the engines; each one of them aimed at a correct performance of the tests to comply with the standards, minimize reprocesses and achieve customer satisfaction. Likewise, the flow charts are a graphic representation of the steps to be followed in each subprocess, which contributes to a better interpretation of the same by the operator. With the implementation of this protocol, a substantial increase in compliance with the quality standards established by the norm is expected, together with a reduction in reprocesses, which were initially at a percentage of 26, 16 and 21% for the years 2019, 2020 and 2021, respectively. Allowing the creation of favorable conditions in the organization so that it can aspire to a future certification of its processes by national and international entities. © 2023 IEEE.

Design and Implementation of a Software for Solving Wave Equations

Computational aspects of simulation and modeling in the solution of the Heaviside equation are presented. A second-order finite difference approximation scheme was used. The code was implemented in MATLAB and allowed to obtain the induced currents at the moment of an atmospheric discharge. This is a simple example that allows explaining how an algorithm implemented to solve the Heaviside equation which serves as a basis for solving wave equations that describe different physical phenomena and incorporates tools that allow performing more complete studies in the transient regime when studying atmospheric discharges in transmission lines. Improvements to previous works are introduced, which will contribute to developing more applications, since having more direct and interactive contact with the graphs of the transient regime will reinforce the knowledge about the physical phenomenon studied. In the numerical implementation, a finite difference second-order approximation scheme was used. To validate the code, convergence tests were performed, which allow us to conclude that the code is stable and convergent to the second order of approximation. It is demonstrated that the implemented code is general enough to be implemented in simulations of wave equations describing different physical systems. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
