Abstract
We report a case of a spider (Pamphobeteus sp.) preying on a viper (Bothrops asper) in the wild. We report this new observation in the lowland evergreen forests of Ecuador. It is the first predation case of genus Pamphobeteus on a viper and the first case of spider predation on a snake in Ecuador, providing new information on the interaction between the two species. © 2026, Sociedad Herpetologica Mexicana.
