Abstract
This study examined the integration of decolonial design in contemporary video games. Using eight case studies, this research scrutinized cultural representation, narratives and characters, gameplay mechanics, challenges to colonial narratives, and the critiques and limitations of each game. The findings illustrate the transformative potential of decolonial design in creating immersive and inclusive gaming experiences while challenging entrenched colonial narratives. The study contributes to understanding the interplay between video games and decolonial design, and urges developers and designers to embrace decolonial perspectives more actively. © 2023 IEEE.
