Social capital and the generation of technological innovations in Ecuadorian companies

The objective of this research is to analyze social capital in the generation of technological innovations in Ecuadorian companies. From the methodological point of view, the data from the Ecuadorian Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC) are taken from the ACTI 2012-2014 survey. The results point to the existence of an influence of social capital in the creation of technological innovations in companies. Relationship Between Body Schema and Socioemotional Well-Being in Early Childhood: A Comparative Study

The present study explores the deficiencies observed in the development of the body schema and the limited access to socio-emotional tools in early education students. The objective was to analyze the influence of the body schema on the socio-emotional well-being of boys and girls aged 4 to 5 years, belonging to the Teresa Flor Educational Unit, located in Ambato, Ecuador. With a quantitative approach and a quasi-experimental design of exploratory and explanatory scope, 47 students were evaluated using the Goodenough and Harris tests. Statistical tests were used to test the hypothesis that the development of the body schema positively impacts socioemotional well-being. The results revealed that greater development of the body schema is related to higher self-esteem, better emotional management and more effective social interaction. Objectively applied evaluations showed that children with greater knowledge of their body tend to manage their emotions better and establish stronger social relationships. In conclusion, the study highlights the importance of promoting activities that encourage the development of the body schema, since they contribute significantly to socio-emotional well-being in early childhood. These findings highlight the need to incorporate socio-emotional tools and resources in educational programs to guarantee comprehensive development.

The Academy and the Link with Society: The Case of Business Administration, Indoamérica. Ecuador

The projection of the University towards Society acquires its significant relevance in the search for a higher education with social responsibility, pertinent and with relevance in the formative system of the substantive functions between teaching, research and liaison. The objective of this research is to highlight the main problems of the associations in zone 3 of Ecuador, given its importance in the learning process that allows the insertion of knowledge with social experience. The methodology will incorporate an exploratory descriptive type of research with the participation of sixth semester students of the academic period A23 of the Business Administration career, Universidad Indoamérica Ecuador, through a NEXUS 4D diagnosis, which seeks to collect the necessary information in order to control, improve and detect the shortcomings within the associations. The results obtained showed that the linkage programs and projects have weaknesses in their structuring, since we found problems in the process, the associations do not collaborate with the information, which has led to difficulties in time, in the evolution and development of the work. The document concludes by indicating the fulfillment of the laws and policies of linkage with the community in the Indoamerica University and the performance of the students of the Indoamerica University.

Safety During the Fruit and Flowers Festival and Its Impact on Local Entrepreneurs

This research focuses on the need for touristic safety by domestic and foreign visitors in the city of Ambato, during the Fruit and Flowers Festival. The objective of the research is to determine the level of physical insecurity perceived by tourists visiting the city of Ambato during the festival. The methodology used was developed on a descriptive and exploratory level, as well as a bibliographic search; in addition, interviews were conducted with 40 domestic tourists and 30 foreigners, who visited the province during the festivities in the 2020 carnival. The method of observation was also applied. The results obtained were of concern to the province, as tourists are not satisfied with security and the different actions that were applied in relation to it. The conclusion reached is that tourism security policies must be implemented; in the same way, security needs to be intensified by implementing surveillance strategies in smaller spaces, as well as enforcing public order and monitoring the presence of misbehaving individuals. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Cultural and Ethnographic Routes as a Tourist Resource for Rural Development: A Theoretical Review

Cultural routes have become an important income-generating resource for the different countries they pass through. At present, this type of route is promoting a series of activities related to the tourism field and that have drawn special attention from its visitors, this has made the governments of the day develop policies aimed at promoting and implementing actions that allow stimulate the development and economic growth of the rural areas in which they are located. The purpose of this research is to carry out a review of the current and evolutionary status of the contributions made for the enhancement of historical and heritage value of these routes. In the present research, a literature review of the main cultural tourism routes and their contributions to the development of the areas through which they run was carried out. Technology-Based Companies: The Case of South American Countries

In recent decades, technology-based companies have achieved significant global recognition, given their importance and substantial contribution to the economic and sustainable development of organizations and society at large, through job and wealth creation. The research objective focuses on determining the relationship between technology-based companies and R&D and innovation spending. To meet the objective, the methodology applied was based on the application of Pearson’s correlation coefficient statistical technique, since it allows to obtain an association coefficient between variables that do not behave normally. Attrition Factors and Retention Strategies in Distance Higher Education

Distance higher education faces significant challenges in student retention, affected by economic, academic, personal and technological factors. This study aims to identify the main causes of attrition and propose strategies to improve retention in this modality. Using a mixed approach, quantitative data from 3,835 students enrolled in a higher education institution in Ecuador were analyzed, complemented by qualitative interviews with administrative and teaching staff. The results revealed that economic (34.09%) and academic (27.79%) factors are the main barriers to retention, followed by family and personal problems (13.75%). In addition, limitations related to access and use of information technologies were identified, such as the lack of technological resources and the digital divide, which affect student performance. In conclusion, a comprehensive strategic plan is proposed that includes personalized tutoring, financial support, improvement of technological infrastructure and student welfare services. These strategies seek to reduce dropout, strengthen the educational experience and promote academic success in the distance learning modality.

Social Capital and Subjective Well-Being: The Case of Ecuador

Social capital and subjective well-being are interconnected. Social capital, which includes social relationships, trust, and civic participation, has a positive impact on people’s subjective well-being. Fostering and strengthening social capital in communities can be beneficial in improving the subjective well-being of individuals and promoting a healthier and more prosperous society. The objective of the study is to determine the relationship between social capital and subjective well-being by correlating the variables analyzed with the different indicators. The main results show that there is a significant relationship between social capital and subjective well-being.

Unemployment and Vulnerability in Ecuador

In Ecuador, both the vulnerable sectors and the informal and underemployed workers face challenges in terms of employment and working conditions. Informality implies a lack of protection and benefits, while underemployment affects the quality of life. Inclusive policies are required to address these issues and promote equitable development. The objective of this study is to explain the incidence of vulnerable sectors in informality and underemployment in Ecuador for the foundation of public policies. The data analyzed comes from the National Survey of Employment, Unemployment and Underemployment (ENEMDU) - Accumulated. The results indicate that vulnerable sectors have a great impact on informality and underemployment regardless of factors such as gender, education and area.
