Abstract
The concern of the Universities to generate innovative undertakings in the present is a complicated task, for that reason it is necessary to start from a scenario of consolidation of cognitive competences to encourage entrepreneurship. The purpose of the research was to characterize the innovative ventures, based on the cognitive skills promoted in the students of the Faculty of Administrative Sciences of the Technical University of Ambato, Ecuador, which has 14222 students, 1147 teachers and 875 administrative servants and of service. The study was based on documentary methods and empirical data, being the approach of quantitative order, of exploratory, descriptive and correlational design; the study population 14222, from which a sample of 284 students was calculated. The technique for data collection was the survey, supported by a questionnaire, as an instrument. The results of greater impact establish that the students do not know about the undertakings made in the faculty, the teachers do not motivate to generate entrepreneurship, the imparted knowledge is not according to the needs of the sector. A close relationship between entrepreneurship and cognitive skills is evidenced in an average of 0.545 according to the Pearson correlation coefficient. Based on the analysis of results, a management model based on cognitive skills that contribute to increase the rate of innovative undertakings in the faculty by students is derived as a suggestion. © 2019, Universidad del Zulia.
